Bay Street creeps upward
Canadian stocks ended slightly higher but posted a razor-thin weekly loss - their first so far this month. Six of 10 TSX sector indexes closed higher. Royal Bank of Canada rose 0.9 per cent, while insurance giant Manulife Financial gained 1 per cent.

Wall Street advances
U.S. stocks gained after a report the European Central Bank is considering a bond-buying program that could help contain euro zone borrowing costs and on hopes of more stimulus from the Federal Reserve. Supervalu shares jumped 10.9 per cent on news the grocer is seeking bidders for its business.
