Filters
A Filter is a set of criteria you use to select a set of funds, stocks or indexes. For
example, you can select securities based on performance, company, market sector, asset
type, etc. Once you have created a filter, you can run reports on the securities it
finds, or add them to a personal list for further analysis or inclusion in a portfolio.
There are two types of filter available: Fund Filters
and Stock Filters.
- To set up a filter, click Filters in the Navigation bar. The Fund Filter
screen appears.
- To work with a Stock Filter, select Stock from the Select type
of filter pulldown box and click Go.
Fund Filter
The Fund Filter allows you to generate a Fund Report that is tailored to your specific
requirements. Click the tabs at the top to select one or more of the following criteria.
Note: Unlike the Stock Filters, the Fund Filter is cumulative:
information from all the tabs is combined in the final report.
- General
lets you specify one or more fund companies or asset classes, load type, RRSP
eligibility, MER, total assets, minimum investment and fund type.
- Performance lets you specify
total and calendar year returns, and compare funds to other funds and indexes.
- Rankings
lets you specify the Globe Star rating; quartile and calendar quartile
rankings; MPT Statistics; equity approach, bias and style; and fixed income
term and style.
- Portfolio lets you specify the types of
instruments in the fund, as well as geographic area and market sector, and allows you to
include or exclude selected securities.
You now have the following options:
- To view or edit a saved filter, select it in the Select a saved Filter
box and click Edit.
- To reset all criteria in the report to their default settings, click
Reset Filter at the bottom.
- To run a report on a saved filter without viewing it, select it in the
Select a saved Filter box and click Run Filter. The Fund Report screen appears.
- To run the current report, click
Run Filter. The Fund Report screen
appears.
Stock Filters
Stock Filters allow you to isolate and report on stocks, indexes and companies based on
criteria that include percentage price change, revenue or income growth, industry and
exchange.
Note: Unlike the Fund Filter, each Stock Filter generates a separate
report; they cannot be combined.
- The Historical Price Filter lets you screen stocks and indexes based on their percentage
price change. Price changes are based on the last available closing prices,
and do not include intraday price action. You can select by percentage price
change, minimum price, industry and exchange.
- The Intraday Price Filter
lets you screen stocks and indexes based on their percentage price change for
the current or last trading day. Historic prices are excluded. You can isolate
securities that trade above a minimum market price, have a specified
price/earnings ratio and much more.
- The Company Financials Filter lets you screen
companies based on their industry classification, market capitalization, and most recent
annual financial information such as revenue, net income and book value.
When you have made all your selections, click Go. The selected Report appears.
